As we near the two-year anniversary of living through a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, let us come together to celebrate how despite upheavals in almost every aspect of our lives, one thing remains the same — Berkeleyans come together to take care of each other and the community.

Now in its 11th year, the annual Berkeley MLK Breakfast Celebration is a way for the community to come together in a joyful, moving, and meaningful way. Please join us in the spirit of beloved community to celebrate organizations that exemplify Berkeley coming together for this year's theme of health equity and justice.

Keynote Speaker

Donna White Carey, MD, affectionately known as “Dr. Donna,” is devoted to revolutionizing the way we view “health” in the Black community. Her mission is to build a Generational Health Network by promoting the emotional/mental, spiritual, physical and environmental health of Black communities across America and the Diaspora. She has led international missions to Zimbabwe, Botswana and Haiti in hopes to connect our communities. Dr. Donna is the Executive Producer and Host of “Talking with Dr. Donna” a health show created to promote accurate health information to help end the cycle of premature death in the Black community. Currently, Dr. Donna serves as the Medical Director of Case Management for Alameda Alliance for Health.

Dr. Donna is also the Executive Pastor of True Vine Ministries in West Oakland. During the pandemic, Dr. Donna led True Vine Ministries’ involvement in COVID response efforts. She secured contracts to create contact tracing and health education/outreach teams and hosted vaccination clinics that vaccinated over 7000 people. As a believer in the power of prayer, Dr. Donna leads a weekly Women’s prayer line that is a lifeline for dealing with the issues facing today’s women.
