Now in its 15th year, we’re pleased to invite you to join faith, community and civic leaders for our 15th annual community gathering celebrating the life and work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr! The annual Berkeley MLK Breakfast Celebration is a way for our community to come together in a joyful, moving and meaningful way to celebrate people and organizations that exemplify Berkeley working to move forward together.
This year, Immediately following the Breakfast Celebration on Monday, January 19, Mayor Ishii’s office will be hosting a Day of Service. There are 2 volunteer opportunities available:
Cesar Chavez Park Cleanup | 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM: Participate in a shoreline cleanup with the City of Berkeley Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department. Meet at 11 Spinnaker Way for a brief training, then supplies will be distributed, including gloves, buckets, and a map of the targeted locations. (Note: You are welcome to bring your own buckets and gloves). Bring family, friends, or neighbors! Sign up to volunteer.
Meal Distribution & Prep with Dorothy Day House | 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: We will end the day at Dorothy Day House supporting their dinner program. Sign up to volunteer.
Our staff will follow-up as the date approaches. If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Bernal at abernal@berkeleyca.gov.
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
